Nutella Swirl Banana Bread

Easy classic banana bread with a chocolate hazelnut swirl twist! Filled with chocolate goodness!

Jump to Recipe

I once again adapted my favourite banana bread recipe and added some Nutella swirl goodness! There is nothing yummier than chocolate hazelnut spread paired with fruit, especially bananas.

Want double the chocolate? Check out our double chocolate nutella swirl banana bread recipe.

This loaf is moist, full of banana flavour, and made even more delicious with the chocolate hazelnut spread.

Tip: Don’t skimp out on the Nutella! Use big dollops!

This will make sure you will get delicious pockets of chocolate hazelnut goodness! If you use to little, when you swirl it the Nutella will just mix in with your batter. Which still will taste good, but trust me you want those dollops!

Easy classic banana bread with a chocolate hazelnut swirl twist! Filled with chocolate goodness!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed

  • 1 tablespoon milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup Nutella (or any chocolate hazelnut spread)

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 F. Prepare a 9×5 loaf pan by greasing and adding parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl mix butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until combined. Add in eggs, vanilla, and milk. Mix until combined. Then stir in mashed bananas.
  • Add in baking soda, baking powder, and flour. Stir until just combined and there are no more lumps of flour.
  • Stir in chocolate chips until just combined.
  • Pour about half of your batter into the prepared loaf pan. Then add about 5 large dollops of Nutella using a spoon. Top with the remaining batter and dollop on about 5 more dollops on top. Using a knife, swirl the batter with the Nutella, by running it vertically and horizontally.
  • Bake at 325F for 60-65 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool at least 10 minutes before removing from pan.
